My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So I am on the Kindle the other night, and in my list of "books for you" I find this book, another series by my favorite authors Brenda Trim and Tami Julka. I don't even think twice, I download it immediately!!

Liv is a little naïve, but an amazing researcher, coming in most weekends to get more work done. This weekend when she comes in the air conditioning is on the fritz and it is like a sauna. In her quest to find out what is going on, Liv sees a door open that she has never seen open before in the lab, thinking it is a mechanical room since it is near the breakroom, she walks through only to find a completely separate lab and what she sees in the rooms terrifies her. A dirty mattress, chains on the walls, door window incredibly high, what is this place. Then in the last room she is treated to a gorgeous specimen of a man, a shifter to be precise, who is chained to the wall and being beaten by a guard. Liv can't control herself and steps in to stop the guard, which causes even more trouble.

Lawson has been in the lab for three years, being repeatedly beaten and yelled out, but so far he still hasn't given up his will to live, but he is close, when a vision of red hair wanders into the room. He knows he will protect her, and given her spunk, he is tested on that resolve soon.

The Hollow Rock Shifters is a new series by my favorite authors, and this series revolves around shifters. At this time period, the human population knows about shifters, but for the most part they are either scared or dubious of them. Mostly because they have been told they are savages and criminals, when in reality we all know that they are just like anyone else.

This story follows Liv as she decides what to do now that she knows there is a shifter in the lab, and because she is appalled at his treatment, she is bound to make thing better, even if that means helping him escape.

This is a fast moving and page turning story. In fact I was finished with it before I realized it and wanted more. This is what I have come to expect from the authors, the team of Brenda Trim and Tami Julka have created some of the best books I have ever read in the Dark Warrior Alliance Series, and so I was expecting the same quality from this series, and so far they have not disappointed.

Great series set around the shifters, with a different world view. Something any fan of the authors or of shifter novels could enjoy.

Heat in the Bayou (Dark Warrior Alliance, book 4.5) by Brenda Trim and Tami Julka

Heat in the Bayou (Dark Warrior Alliance, #4.5)Heat in the Bayou (Dark Warrior Alliance, book 4.5)
by Brenda Trim and Tami Julka

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What can I say, I am in love with this series! Even though this is a very short little story, set in-between two of the novels, it is so worth reading!

Zeke is a panther shifter, and second in command of the pack in Seattle, where most of the books take place. A few books back, Zander and his crew had to go to New Orleans and visit Madame Marie, the voodoo queen. On that visit they meet Tia, and Zander gave her the news that he knew where her fated mate was. So when Zander needed someone to go to New Orleans to look into Angel's Kiss, the only drug around that can effect the supernaturals like shifters and vampires, of course he sends Zeke, but without telling him why.

The minute Zeke walks into the Voodoo shop, he is struck by the beautiful Tia and has no idea why he is acting like a teenager. Tia sees him walk in, and she is sure that he is the shifter that Zander spoke of to her on his visit, and she wants to find out.

This is just a short story of Tia and Zeke, their meeting, getting to know each other and discovering their connections, as well as locating the Angel's Kiss in the area. Cute and romantic, it is a fast paced story that will explain Tia's presence in future books. It also goes back and connects to the original visit to New Orleans in book two or three.

I love the way the authors manage to go back and pick up a small event in a book and make a story out of it that will continue throughout the books. Each character in the series is part of a family, and so as the books progress there is the whole story line of the protecting the world from evil, but each book focuses on a member of the family, and so the whole series draws you in and makes you feel as if you actually known the characters and you want to hear their stories and see them all find love and happiness.

Isobel (Dark Warrior Alliance, Book 6) by Brenda Trim and Tami Julka

Isobel (Dark Warrior Alliance, #6)Isobel (Dark Warrior Alliance, Book 6)
by Brenda Trim and Tami Julka

My rating: 4 of 5 stars (This is closer to a 4.75, but I can only pick a 4 or a 5)

When you are the Vampire Queen and you are pregnant, nothing goes according to the normal schedule! Just as the Dark Warriors were settling back into life after Rhys recent trip to the underworld, Elise goes into labor and the next generation of Dark Warriors is born in Isobel. The goddess Morrigan appears to Zander and Elise after her birth to let them know that she is a very special child, and they need a guardian angel for her. Good thing Rhys' mate is an angel and can take care of calling for her guardian. Of course, even that cant be easy when Isobel's guardian turns out to be Elise's murdered first husband. Authors +Brenda Trim  and Tami Julka do not disappoint, they weave the next generation into the currently generation flawlessly and still give us adventure and trials. Isobel (Dark Warrior Alliance book 6) is a bridge between what happened in book five and the future, yet at the same time you can read this book without reading the others.

Isobel, even though it is the sixth book, stands on its own and just carries the story on from the end of book five. The author team of Brenda Trim and Tami Julka do a fabulous job of making the books flow seamlessly from one to the next, yet at the same time allowing them to stand on their own if readers haven't read the whole series. Of course, once I read one of the books, I knew I was going to have to read the rest of the series. This is still an adult novel, romance, sex and violence are there, but they all have a purpose, it is not violent just for the sake of being violent. Hidden in the fabric of the romance and life stories is a gem of a moral that can be applied to life.

In a cage, deep underground Shea sits waiting to die. She is sure this is where she will die. Shea is strong and defiant. She takes the brunt of the abuse from the leader, in the hopes of keeping the rest of the girls safe. She is one of hundreds of women that have been kidnapped by the demons, and although there was once a promise of rescue, that was so long ago. She told the woman who wandered into the lair to find the Dark Warriors. Meanwhile, across town, the woman that wandered in has told the Dark Warriors and they are planning a rescue. The Mage Garrick is one of the lead men to go in as he will use his magic to take down their wards. Garrick is a strong, silent warrior who takes his job seriously. He lost his own mate years ago and fights to make sure no one else does. In the book Scarred Warrior, we finally learn all of Garrick's story. How he got his scars by using his time travel gift, and lost his mate. He also finds out that Shea is his mate, which rocks them both. Garrick because he can't understand getting a second mate, and Shea because of everything that had been done to her while in captivity, she can't believe anyone would want her. Authors Brenda Trim and Tami Julka once again have created a story to draw you into the world of the Dark Warriors.

Scarred Warrior is the fourth book in the Dark Warrior series. Authors Brenda Trim and Tami Julka are amazing writers in a number of ways, but it really shows in a series in the fact that you can read this book without reading the others and be fine. You will understand everything going on, but if you read them in order then you will have more of a dislike going for the villains by the time you get to this book. This book is filled with the magic and adventure. A good deal of fighting and sabotage. There is the fated mate pair, but only because I have read the other books, I feel this pair lacked a bit of sizzle, most likely because of both their fears. Still this is an excellent book and a great read.

Dark Alliance Series - Rowan Sister's

Series Info Post

As some of you know from reading in the past, once I get hooked into a series, I like to read it all and then I like to tell you what the full series is, in order, so that you can read it in order and if the author has any other series.

In this case, the two series actually intertwine slightly. We meet the Rowan sisters in Book 2 of the Dark Alliance, and they work some magic to answer a few questions for the Warriors. Now I haven't read the  Rowan Sisters yet, so I am not sure if the Warriors show up in there as well, but its still kinda fun to know there was a lot of thought put into both series.

**UPDATE 1/14*** After writing this yesterday, I downloaded all the Rowan Sisters Trilogy to my Kindle and read them last night, so they are now reviewed, and they did not disappoint!! They are slightly more about the Fated Mates and a little less violence, but there is still some action and magic, evil and a bad witch to take care of. Oh, and to answer the previous question, yes the Dark Warriors show up in the Rowan Sisters, a little in book one, more in book two and even more in book three.

Well, The Dark Alliance Series that I read yesterday is amazing!! In fact I haven't read anything like it since I discovered Sherrilynn Kenyon and The League Series!!! OMG, that was fabulous!!!  In fact, I read and reviewed all 12 books in that series! I was hoping that she would write a few more in that series because there were still characters I would have liked to have seen a story about, but for now I am waiting and moving on.

So far in the Dark Alliance series there are four published books, and one referenced in the back of book 3, but it has not released yet. I will update this as soon as it comes out and I am still hoping at a couple more might be coming in this series as well! There are a few other characters (Bhric, Breslin, Orlando, Rhys) that I would like to see have their own story.

My suggestion would be to read Dark Alliance books 1 and 2, before you start the Rowan Sisters, and to definitely have Dark Alliance book 3 read before you read Rowan Sisters book 3 (or it just might spoil it a touch for you). That seems to be the timeline of the stories and the way that they work together. They really do almost read as one series with two branches, more than two series separately.

Update* 9/1/17 Since I originally wrote this post, more of the books have come out and I have tried to update this post as I read them, but I was a little behind so I was working on that today. Also if you will notice on the author's website they have renumbered the series and mixed the Rowan Sisters books into the Dark Warriors and it has all become the Dark Alliance Series.
