The Good, the Bad, and the Witchy (A Wishcrafter Mystery, Book 3)
by Heather Blake
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A birthday party for an eighty-year old, this Darcy can do, except for the stripper, really? Is that appropriate? Nothing can go wrong with this, right. Wrong. This is the Enchanted Village and for some reason Darcy seems to be finding all the dead bodies in town, so when she goes outside looking for the cake, she stumbles over the body of the delivery guy. Only this time, the spirit of the dead stays witch Darcy and helps her figure out this mystery.
Things heat up between Darcy and Nick - of course there are issues, in the person of Glinda, who has her sights set on Nick herself, or at least his position as police chief.
Another installment in the life of Darcy and her adjustment to being a witch and the town of enchanted Village.

It Takes a Witch (Wishcrafter Mystery, Book 1)
by Heather Blake
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Just last month Darcy's world was falling apart, her father had dies, she was jobless and still reeling from her divorce and then there was Harper's activism that lead to shoplifting. She had no idea what she was going to do, or how to pull it all together when Aunt Velma arrived. Now Harper and Darcy have moved to Enchanted Village and learned they are witches - well wishcrafters, meaning they can grant wishes, if certain rules have bene followed.
Darcy is just trying to settle in and then there is a murder. Darcy is naïve enough to think the police can handle it, Harper wants to investigate and that sets off Darcy's mother instinct. Then again, Darcy is the only mom that Harper has known since their mother died having Harper. Harper just wants Darcy to lighten up and live life.
This is cute series, a village of witches yet it is marketed as a tourist spot, so no one knows if the witches are real or fakes. so many rules for Darcy to learn, and she just wants to fit in and relax.
Definitely a cute, fun book to read.

Woven (The Mystic Valley Series, Volume 1)
by L.C. Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Reviewed for Readers Favorite
As of last week, for all she knew, Dylan was your typical teenager with loving, normal parents about to finish her senior year of high school. This week, she is now all alone in the world, her parents killed in a tragic car accident. She is floundering, not sure how she is going to get through this but she has her best friend Carly and her mom's best friend Tessa to lean on. When she goes back to school she finds that the lady that has taken over at the school to replace her dad is actually nice and seems concerned about her, maybe she will be able to handle this, expect that her son Jensen seems to be taking an interest in her, which is strange because guys are never interested in Dylan. That is not the only change that is about to rock Dylan's world on the eve of her eighteenth birthday. Woven (The Mystic Valley Series) (Volume 1) is a young adult fiction paranormal story of shape shifters and coming of age, making choices, romance and life and family. Author LC Taylor has developed a well rounded story that focuses on the teens in this book, but has the options to focus on the adults more in other volumes.
Woven (The Mystic Valley Series) (Volume 1) is a series about an area of the country that is home to a group, or pack, actually two packs of wolf shape shifters, these shifters don't experience their first shift until they turn eighteen, a slightly different concept than most shifter novels. This first volume I would label young adult as it is focused on the teens, Dylan and Jensen, Kai and Carly and as they are all just eighteen this could also kinda fall into that coming of age category. It has aspects of family and friends, building a life from a group of people that mean something to you, blood or not. Taking care of your own. It is a really good book, but there is some consensual sexual relations between mated pairs in the book, so I would advise adult or older teen readers.

Witchy Woman (Book 2, The Necromancer): Psychic Suspense
by Pamela M. Richter
My rating: 4.2 of 5 stars
This is the second book in a series, and to be honest I did not read the first book, but it did not hamper me from being able to enjoy and understand this book. Most of the highlights of the first book, or the things that I really needed to know to understand this book were retold in memories or nightmares, or some other form that allowed you to know what had happened yet it still fit into the book wonderfully.
Michelle, may or maybe not be a bit of a witch, and that has nothing to do with here personality. She's still not sure she believes it, but Omar believed it enough to have her attacked, raped, kidnapped and almost killed twice now. Thankfully he is in jail, well at least his was until this morning. Michelle can't believe he got released on bail already, but she also doesn't think he is stupid enough to do anything to her while he is being watched. Of course, Michelle has no idea how desperate Omar really is.
Her first day back to work is hectic, and she has plans with her best friend Heather to go to the grocery, since both of them are out of food. She calls to let her know she is running late, then calls when she is heading to the parking garage, but when Michelle isn't home an hour later, Heather knows something is wrong. Good thing for Michelle, Heather is on top of everything, and bad for Omar.
Within hours, Omar has kidnapped Michelle and moved her car back to her apartment, left a message at work that she is sick and thinks that no one will be looking for her and that he has a couple days if not a week before anyone notices that she really is gone. He has a wicked plan and unfortunately it involves drugging Michelle to get her to cooperate or at least not resist.
Back in Hawaii, within those same hours, Michelle has alerted her new boyfriend Mike, Michelle's boyfriend Rod, who has dealt with Omar before, and Professor Vincent MIddleton, who was involved the first time around, and they are already searching for Michelle. They may be about twelve hours behind Omar, but they are determined not to let him win, they all want Michelle back now.
This was a good book. It is well written and the characters are well developed. Omar is someone that you will hate immediately, he has no redeeming qualities, he is just pure evil and it comes across in everything he does to try to force Michelle to come to him. Michelle is strong and a fighter, and she has learned to stand up for herself and she is not about to let some slimey guy take control of her life. She has amazing friends that will do anything for her and that is what is probably the best part of the story.
One note - anyone who has dealt with fertility issues might find a trigger in this book. You might do fine reading it or it might bring on memories and thoughts, depending on your personal experiences. I know how touchy the subject can be so I wanted to give a warning.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I received an ARC of this book. This is my honest and truthful review.

Greensmith Girls (Lainswich Witches, Book 1)
by Raven Snow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
In the small town of Lainswich, almost everybody knows everybody and their business, so the rumor around town has always been that the Greensmith Girls were strange, or well witchy. Rowan took the first chance she got and left town, renting a run-down tiny apartment working for a tabloid, but at least she was on her own. At least until the annual family yard sale when her Aunt sold a trunk to someone and that person ended up dead.
Now Rowan is back in town trying to figure out who was the body in the trunk and what happened to the lady that bought the trunk, without anyone in her family getting hurt. Enter the grandson of the man in the trunk, and thing get even more complicated.
Can Rowan figure out what is going on without involving the family? Can she keep herself from getting mixed up with the grandson?
This is a great start to a new series that focuses on family, a little witchy nature, a little romance, and small towns. It looks to be be a cute and entertaining series.

Under A Blood Kissed Moon (Blood Moon & Magic, Book 1)
by Kelleye Richards
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Reviewed for Readers Favorite
Ember may be a shifter, but she was raised by vampires, and her family is everything to her, which is why she is at an illegal shifter fight. Patrone has threatened her family if she doesn't fight for him, and Ember will do anything to keep her family safe. Tonight's fight is going to be different, Ember can feel it in the air, there is a different scent in the air, something is going on. Thoren hates shifters, and who can blame him, a rogue set of shifters murdered his family and he has vowed revenge, but there is something different about Ember that unsettles him. Under a Blood Kissed Moon is the story of a vampire, Thoren, bent on killing all shifters for the mistakes of those few that destroyed his life and family, and Ember, a shifter raised by vampires but something completely different than what Thoren was expecting, and he isn't sure how to handle it. Author Kelleye Richards is actually the writing team of authors Anya Kelleye and E R Richards, and they have taken a role playing exercise and developed it into a full book series.
Under a Blood Kissed Moon is the first book in the Blood Moon and Magic series, and it brings vampires, shape shifters and witches together on a wild journey. One thing that is unique in this book is that the author Kelleye Richards gives vampires the ability to shape shift as well. This is the first time I have read a book in which a vampire can also shape shift. I found that to be interesting and different, making it something apart of all the other paranormal books out there at the moment. This is definitely an adult novel as there is some sexual content, some violence, fated mates, bonded mates, and even childbirth. Most of these topics most teenagers know about but I like to warn readers so that no one is caught off guard or offended. This is a paranormal book that doesn't follow the rules of all the others and makes you want to read it, and future books.

Violca's Dragon (The Dragon's Ruby, book 1)
by Leilani Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I accidentally started reading The Dragon Ruby series with book three, Kassandra's Wolf, and having enjoyed the book so much and wanting to know more about the characters in the book, I found the rest of the series that had been published so far.
Violca's Dragon is the first book in the series, and the beginning of the story. Violca is the Hungarian for Violet, which I found a neat connection to as my children are part Hungarian, their grandparents on both sides are first generation american born from full-blooded Hungarian immigrants. We always are looking at different Hungarian things because of this.
This story begins with Violca, still learning the nature of herself and her sisters, and Chase, a dragon shifter that was sent to protect her. Although once Chase sees her he is sure that she is the one in this world meant for him, his fated mate.
This was a great start to the series, introducing the witch sisters, who will show up in future books, as I found them in Kassandra's Wolf, as well as found mention of Kassandra in this book. I love when the books intertwine together, it just makes them so much more fun to read. I am so ready to start the next book!

ForNever (Volume 1)
by Lynette Ferreira
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Reviewed for +Readers' Favorite
Heather has lost her faith in love when her parents divorce, then she meets Keiran and Jayden, brothers that want to romance her. They have a lot to try to make up for in her mind, since she is sure that love doesn't exist. What Heather doesn't know in the beginning is this is not the first time this trio has meet and done with dance. Long ago in Salem, the trio was cursed by a witch and they repeat history over and over, forcing Heather to choose between the brothers, and when she chooses wrong, she dies and is reborn. ForNever is a complex title, in that it talks about Heather's believe that love never lasts and that they have been forced to repeat history over and over. Author Lynette Ferreira has developed a story that pulls you in, embraces the present and the past and has you turning pages and reading until the end.
ForNever is actually listed as Volume One, meaning that there is a follow up story of some kind after this book, which is interesting, because where it is going to lead is unknown. Author Lynette Ferreira is a great writer and this book was so compelling and captivating. It had me laughing, crying and rooting for true love. It is a great story and I easily recommend it for all readers of any age. This is really a fairly clean book, there is no sex and little language. I think it would be great for teens and middle school readers, as well as adults. Everyone can find something that fits them in this book.

Spells and Sorcery (The Lexie Carrigan Chronicles, Book 1)
by S. Usher Evans
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Reviewed for +Readers' Favorite
For the most part Lexie is your typical teenager. She has two older sisters, one who annoys her to no end, and they live with their aunt, after their mom passed away when Lexie was born. All that typical life is about to change at midnight, when Lexie turns fifteen. Her aunt and oldest sister inform her that she has magic, and Lexie is distraught at the idea. Her whole world is turned upside down. Then there is the fact that no one is really explaining this whole magic thing, or what to do with it to her. Enter Gavon, who has magic and explains things to her, or is he. The truth may be more than anyone in the family can handle. Spells and Sorcery follows Lexie as she comes to grip with magic, what it means in her life, and tries to find her center once again. Author S. Usher Evans has written a coming of age, fantasy, paranormal tale that may revolve around magic, but there are so many other layers woven into the story that you like.
While Spells and Sorcery is billed as the first book in the Lexie Carrigan Chronicles, it definitely ends with more questions than answers, but at the same time you feel as if Lexie and her sisters have been left out in the cold by a large extended family to sink or swim on their own. Author S. Usher Evans builds a story that you think is going one way, only to have it turned completely upside down at the last minute and you are left wondering, probably feeling the same as Lexie. This is a young adult book, and it is clean with no sex, a little language, but nothing more than kids have heard at school already. I would recommend it for any reader, young or old, and I think you will find yourself understanding the complex issues of life and magic in this book.

The Witch's Daughter (The Irish Witch's Series, Book 2)
by Leigh Ann Edwards
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Reviewed for +Readers' Favorite
All of her life, Alainn has lived between two worlds. Although she was of the servant class, the others didn't like her, thought she was too good for herself because she was given certain privileges, raised and tutored with the master's sons. When she falls in love with the heir, Killian, life gets even more complicated only for her to find out truths about her parentage. The Witch's Daughter is set in Ireland in 1536, and the historical imagery is amazing. The world of rules, the master and Lord and the servant and peasant classes truly divided and not to mix. But this is also the story of love and hate, of curses and revenge, of the excesses of privilege and the heartbreak of the lower class. Author Leigh Ann Edwards weaves a story that draws you in and has you guessing until the end.
The Witch's Daughter is said to be the second book in a series, that being said I have not read the first book, but I was not hindered by that at all. This book stands alone and is easily understood, although it does make me wonder if the first book is the story of Alainn's parents, and if so I desperately want to read that now! Author Leigh Ann Edwards wrote this book with the ability to stand on its own, but if anything it makes you want to know more, the past and the future, how the curse came about and what is to come next. This is definitely an adult book, there is talk of sex and rape, so I wouldn't recommend it for a younger reader, but I think it was a wonderful story all the same.

Witch of Death
by Chrys Fey
My rating: 4.2 of 5 stars
Reviewed for +Readers' Favorite
As a Detective, what do you do when your victim is floating five feet off the bed? Well you call in another Detective, who just happens to be a witch, what else. Liberty Sawyer is a witch, and she takes her abilities seriously and does what she can to prevent and help the police, including her Uncle. She can't help it if his new partner is good looking, and a real pain in the butt because he refuses to believe anything she says. Witch of Death is a short story about Liberty and Reid's interactions as she helps them with two murders, and hopefully to prevent a third, and as Reid comes to believe in something he doesn't understand. Author +Chrys Fey writes a well thought out story, with emotional impact. When Liberty makes a point to Reid, you can feel the tenseness in her body, the stress and power in her voice and the strong stance as she says it. Not every author can do that for the reader.
Witch of Death is a short story, I for one, really wish is had been about twice as long. Not that I wanted any more murders or anything, but more interaction between Liberty and Reid would have been great between the confrontation and the call for help. This is a quick read so great for a traveling book. Author +Chrys Fey really thought out the story, it makes sense to flows well and there is nothing in it that doesn't need to be. Of course it could be longer if the author added a bunch of filler, but sometimes it's better not to have all of that stuff. There is no graphic violence, although the deaths by magic are described and no sex, so this is a clean book for any reader. Not sure you want to try a paranormal or supernatural story, this is the one to start with, short, just enough to get you feet wet and make you want more.

The Witch Who Cried Wolf (Cry Wolf, #1)
by Sarah Mäkelä
My rating: 4.1 of 5 stars
Mia is a shy little flower of a witch, and Jessa is her best friend, who runs and owns an herbal shop in town. Some people realize that she is really a witch, but most just come for the fun of it and the novelty. When a client asks Mia to make a potion, he doesn't give her enough information and the healing salve goes wrong. Now Mia has werewolves hunting her down and threatening her family and she doesn't really now which camp to believe.
Ethan has just spent the last year plus on deployment overseas and he is looking forward to being home, even if he isn't exactly looking forward to spending time with Mia. It's not that he doesn't like Mia, that's just it, he's been in love with her since seventh grade, but you just don't go after your best friends little sister, it is just not done.
This year, when Ethan gets involved in the werewolf attack on Mia, and then see's the treatment that a bad boyfriend subjects her to, it is almost more than he can handle.
This is a cute story of friends figuring out their places with each other long after college and if it's ok to finally date your best friends little sister or not. A story of a witch and a werewolf and a friendship and partnership to help each other when one is injured, but also to keep the supernatural hidden from the rest of the world.
Definitely a young adult type story, one sexual scene, not too explicit, but enough to be mentioned. Fun, enjoyable story for anyone who likes the witch, werewolf, paranormal genre.
