DASH Diet Recipes Jumpstart Cookbook by Diana Davis BOOK REVIEW

DASH Diet Recipes Jumpstart Cookbook - Over 30 Mouthwatering Recipes Ready In 30 Minutes (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack & Dessert Recipes Included!) (DASH Diet Recipes Under 30 Minutes)DASH Diet Recipes Jumpstart Cookbook - Over 30 Mouthwatering Recipes Ready In 30 Minutes (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack & Dessert Recipes Included!)
by Diana Davis

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The DASH Diet actually stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension and it has been around for awhile making it's way to the US News and World Reports best and healthiest diets list 4 years in a row. It has been highly recommended by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology and for good reasons, everything in this recipe book is really tasty.

This book gives you a basic, quick overview of the diet and why it is a good, healthy way to live. More importantly it is full of easy to follow DASH diet recipes. Some of these I was ready to make the day I first read the book. They don't take many changes to what you already have and everyone in the family can benefit from eating this way.

Slow Cooker Recipes Quick & Easy Cookbook: Mouthwatering Recipes Prepared in 30 Minutes or Less! by Kathy KNIGHT BOOK REVIEW

Slow Cooker Recipes Quick & Easy Cookbook: Mouthwatering Recipes Prepared in 30 Minutes or Less!Slow Cooker Recipes Quick & Easy Cookbook: Mouthwatering Recipes Prepared in 30 Minutes or Less!

From some reason I had the idea in my head that as my children got older, cooking for them would become easier and I would be able to make fancy dinners. Now I realize that it was a dream, as my kids get older they are more involved in activities at school and I have even less time to cook. Over the years I have received a couple of slow cookers as gifts, but never really made the best use of them. As I was looking through kindle titles the other day, I came across this book of Slow Cooker Recipes and I knew I had to give it a try.

The book is wonderful in that it gives you some great starting recipes to have you using your slow cooker the same day. Not only are there great recipes that are easy to follow, they use ingredients you already have on hand and can be made on a budget. There are even some healthy eating variations and recipes included in the book as well. Aside from the recipes, there is another chapter devoted to the slow cooker itself. This gives you excellent advice on what to look for in a slow cooker if you don't have one, the best types of slow cookers, and other great information to make it easier for you to use.

Slow-cooked Lasagna is on the menu in our house now on basketball game nights, since we get home from school and have to run out to the game quickly. Now I can have a great dinner ready when they get home from school and we can eat before heading to the game. This means no more concession stand dinners! This book gives you great recipes that will help to make you feel better about what you are feeding your family.

50 Green Smoothie Recipes - For Detox, Weight Loss, Boosting Your Energy & Improving Your Immunity! by Jennifer Jenkins BOOK REVIEW

50 Green Smoothie Recipes - For Detox, Weight Loss, Boosting Your Energy & Improving Your Immunity!50 Green Smoothie Recipes - For Detox, Weight Loss, Boosting Your Energy & Improving Your Immunity!
by Jennifer Jenkins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Everyone is talking about Green Smoothies! Green Smoothies for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner. They can hide veggies and be used for meal replacements and body building and so much more. They are all the rage, and I know that I have looked at my fair share of books out there on them as I am sure you have too. This book is different, it gives you the Green Smoothie recipes you want, but there it is so much more than that.

If we think of the book in thirds, each being different, the first section is probably the one that I think is the best and most informative out there. Not only does it tell you about Green Smoothies, but it explains your body, how they can effect your body and why. There is even a formula to figure out your metabolism rate so you know how many calories you need to eat. I sat and figured this out as soon as I read it and I was surprised, because it was not what I had been told by the diet places before. There is more information in the first part of the book than I have seen in some book that were dedicated solely to the purpose of talking about improving your health. You will want to keep this book around just for this first part alone long after you have memorized all the recipes and no longer need the rest of the book.

Add to that you get a second section full of recipes. These are broken down into ones that are best for weight loss, others that are good for body building and yet others good for detox. This way you can look for just what you want without having to read through them all. The last part of the book is easy and hands on tips and helps to get you started on your journey and help keep you on he journey. There is a shopping guide, meal planning guidelines, samples meals and the like.

Once you have this book, and you will want to get the book once you look at it, not only can you learn about improving your health, you get the recipes, then you get tips on implementing it into your life. What more could you need other than that? It comes as close to doing it for you as anything out there can.

My Virgin Diet Recipes: The Recipes I Used To Lose 17 Pounds in 3 Weeks by Stacy Longoria BOOK REVIEW

My Virgin Diet Recipes: The Recipes I Used To Lose 17 Pounds in 3 Weeks (Wheat Free, Soy Free, Egg Free, Dairy Free, Peanut Free, Corn Free, Sugar Free & Gluten Free Cookbook)My Virgin Diet Recipes: The Recipes I Used To Lose 17 Pounds in 3 Weeks
by Stacy Longoria

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

We've all heard how gluten, eggs, sugar and other highly reactive foods are a harmful to our diets, but what to do about them. This cookbook gives you clear and easy to follow recipes that cut out those foods from your diet. This allows you to lose weight, and feel better all at once. It also gives you recipes to later slowly reintroduce some of this foods again in small quantities.

I have a good friend who is actually allergic to dairy, gluten and eggs. She has lived this type of lifestyle all her life, and has never had trouble with weight or fatigue. I had discussed with her about trying to lose some of those items from my diet, but it always seemed too difficult. I wandered onto this book by accident, and I have to say it is the greatest money I have spent.

It gives me clear and easy to follow recipes that allow me to start this journey without feeling like I am drowning in a sea of unknowns. I already have some favorites! I can also see, from the list of substitutes at the back, that I will be able to update and change the recipes easily to suit my tastes, once I get much more comfortable with the requirements.

New Year, New You, well that is my goal and this is going to be my handbook to that goal! I am actually excited to start a diet, for once in my life. That has to say something about this amazing book.
