Love's Misadventure (The Mason Siblings Series, Book 1)
by Cheri Champagne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Reviewed for +Readers' Favorite
Lane and Anna had grown up as neighbors, his family estate bordered her family estate. They had played together since childhood and were best friends. He was the only man to understand her love of reading. Anna had always secretly hoped that Lane would develop deeper feelings for her, but at the advanced age of twenty-five, she felt she was all but lost for a spinster. Lane had his own problems, fearing that he would never be able to have a family of his own, so he ignored his feelings towards Anna. As Anna decides to marry the next suitable bachelor, Lane vows to give her an adventure, problem is that other factors are at work here and the adventure that Lane plans for Anna turns into a real and true kidnapping, among other things. Love's Misadventure (The Mason Sibling Series) follows Lane and Anna, along with the rest of the Bradley and Mason families, as they tumble through adventures and blackmail, each hiding secrets that if they only voiced would have prevented most of the troubles. Author Cheri Champagne gives the reader a historical yet humorous story filled with mystery, intrigue, and romance.
Love's Misadventure is the first book in the Mason Sibling series, so we meet all the Mason family in this book, Lane and his younger sisters, and learn bits about them, but not too much yet just enough that you are encouraged to look forward to the next book that will involve one of them. The Mason family and Bradley family are intertwined tightly and yet that makes it even more real, and fun. Author Cheri Champagne not only gives you romance and adventure, but there is humor and real life, keeping secrets only making things worse and love prevailing. This is a great read for any historical buff.

Dying to Read (The Cate Kincaid Files, Book 1) by Lorena McCourtney
Dying to Read (The Cate Kincaid Files, Book 1)
by Lorena McCourtney
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Cate is helping her Uncle Joe out as a Private Investigator while she is looking for a job. She thought she wanted to be a teacher, but found out that she is no good at teaching kids, so a series of dead-end, short term jobs have lead her to Uncle Joe. This is one job that she actually doesn't want to mess up.
What starts out as a routine locate job, turns upside down when she finds a dead body instead, and a whole book club full of people who wanted the lady dead! Cate just can't seem to let this one go, even though her job was to find an employee of the lady, the lady's death has overtaken her and she just can't seem to stop herself from wanting to find the answers.
A new cozy mystery series about a semi-young, almost 30, single gal who has no idea where she is going in life, when an offer to help her Uncle Joe turns into so much more. Maybe being a Private Investigator was her calling all along.
Aside from the murder mystery, you have an extremely slow moving possible relationship between Cate and either her ex-fiance or the new, knight in shining armour guy. You also have a clean cut gal who prays when in trouble and attends church every Sunday.
Very clean story - no bad language or sexual scenes. Does include references to religion and a belief and faith in a God. I found it to be an interesting story, although I know some readers will not enjoy the faith, others will. It is a matter of personal preference, and so I mention that it is included so you know going into the story.
Author +Lorena McCourtney has four cozy mystery series available to read. The Cate Kincaid Files, The Ivy Malone Mysteries, The Julesburg Mysteries, and the Andi McConnell Mystery.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When you are born being able to see things that most people can't and no one is willing to believe you, life can be difficult if not downright painful, lonely and depressing. That is what Arrynna has faced, abandoned at a hospital upon her birth, she was beautiful and calm, everyone at the hospital loved her, but once she started seeing monsters, life got even rougher. Abandoned once again by the only parents she knew at age five when they could no longer deal with the things she saw, she has grown up in institutions and learned to make believe the world is normal and see doesn't see things. All that changes when the Faerie Kings take an interest in her and start trying to find out more about her. Tangled Web (The Arrynna Doe Trilogy Book 1) starts the journey to find out why Arrynna is special and what she means to the Faerie world, the Unseelie Court and the magikal community as a whole. Author L.W. Tichy develops a multilayered story that lives up to the Tangled Web name.
Tangled Web is titled as the start to a trilogy, and given the many layers of story that are woven together into a very tangled web, there is no way a single book could convey the story justly. Life for Arrynna was starting to get manageable, she had a set of foster parents that pretty much left her alone, she was doing pretty well at ignoring the magikal world that only she could see and she was hoping to just live a semi-normal life. Of course nothing can ever go easy for her, her whole life has been a struggle and with the Kings of the Seasonal Courts all taking an interest in her, each for different reasons, she is about to be pulled into more than she could ever have imagined. Author L.W. Tichy has created a current world with all the social issues of today entangled with a magikal world that is ripe for upheaval, and so many layers of story, each character has a different story line or two that is all woven into this web that becomes an engaging, provocative story that you can't put down.

What is a woman to do when she is trying to move on with her life, but her husband has yet to sign the divorce papers, and now has shown up in her house without a place to live? For Sophie, the choice is to try to pawn him off on another woman so that she can move on with her life. Trouble is that Will is not wanting to move on as much, and he has some deep secrets that could spell major trouble for Sophie if she finds out about them, so he is willing to go along with her dating scheme just to keep his secrets. Take my Husband, Please is a contemporary modern romance story of two sets of best friends, their failed marriages, divorces and friendships. Although there is some humor throughout, it is more a realistic look at modern dating when divorced. Author +Kimberly Jayne creates a wonderful set of characters that are engaging and worth reading about.
Take My Husband, Please is an adult fiction, definitely rated for the more mature crowd and not for younger readers, but it does hit upon a number of things at the divorced single mother, back in the dating game is going to run into. While the characters are engaging and the banter light-hearted, it is more of a humorous look at life than a romance in the true since. Every time Sophie or Will seems to be getting to a point of interest on a date, something ironic or out of the blue totally ruins the moment, and so it isn't the sizzle romance that you might expect. Good, light reading to get you laughing a little and not thinking, which we all need sometimes.

For Sebastian, the only choice he feels he can make is to take action himself and look for the missing queen, even if it means he can never go home again. This way at least someone is actually doing something, not just sitting around. Nell has lived a structured and rigid life, never breaking a rule, but never feeling she fit in either. Stowing away on a field trip that she never got permission to go on is the biggest rule break she has ever done, and she is sure something bad is going to happen to her for it. The Water Kingdom (The Water Novels Book 1) tells the story of Sebastian and his quest, and what happens when he accidentally runs into Nell. Author Deborah Gray takes a fantasy/fiction story of two different worlds, and mixes it with coming of age, romance and finding your voice to give young adult readers a meaningful and rich story.
The Water Kingdom is titled to be the first in a series, a let me warn you now, the end is a cliffhanger! Its a natural ending point, but at the same time, there are just too many unanswered questions, so a second book feels like a must! Author Deborah Gray writes in an easy, confident manner that engages the reader and has to identifying with the characters, remembering people from your own high school experience just like them. Although it is set in a fantasy/fiction setting, the plotline and issues of not fitting in, feeling alone, and not having a choice in life are issues that teens today all feel that they are faced with. This is a great book for all readys, it is clean, there is no sex or graphic violence, so I recommend it for any age.

Moonlight: The Big Bad Wolf (Knights of Black Swan, book 4) by Victoria Danann
Moonlight: The Big Bad Wolf (Knights of Black Swan, book 4)
by Victoria Danann
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
The fourth installment in the Knights of Black Swan (Order of the Black Swan) series by +Victoria Danann is Moonlight and it focuses mostly on Stalkson Gray, the werewolf alpha and his pack from Elk Mountain that was having issues with too few females.
We see a little of Bakka and Heaven in this book, and Storm and Lithia are in this one a great deal because of Lithia's pregnancy and also the desire of the Order to try to work with her father, Deliverance. Ram, Elora and Helm have moved back into Jefferson to try to keep Elora safe after the failed attempt on her life in the last book. Glen is also featured a little more in this book.
The Order learns more about the other worlds in this book, especially when they work with Deliverance to help the Elk Mountain pack decide what to do to protect their future. The also learn more about Vampirism, and the fact that what they have encountered in their world, the diseased form that they finally found the cure for, is not the only kind and in fact it has completely different look in other worlds.
Lithia and Elora are able to bond and talk to each other throughout this book more, especially now that Elora has given birth to Helm and Lithia is pregnant. The uneasiness that Lithia used to feel towards Elora because of Storm's involvement with her before Lithia, is slowly being replaced with a shared experience and friendship that only two woman who have went through the same things can have.
Slowly things are changing in the Order , as Sol is getting married and planning to step down in two years, so he is preparing to train his replacement. He would like it to be one of the members of B Company, but they have their own person in mind to recommend for the job and hope that they can get Sol to see their point of view.
Once again we have many layers and areas of story going on at the same time, yet they all mingle together into a real-life story. Once again you find yourself liking characters and wanting things to go their way. Even Deliverance is found to have a few redeeming qualities!

A Summoner's Tale: The Vampire's Confessor (Order of the Black Swan, Book 3) by Victoria Danann
A Summoner's Tale: The Vampire's Confessor (Order of the Black Swan, Book 3)
by Victoria Danann
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
A Summoner's Tale is the third installment in the Order of the Black Swan series, or Knights of Black Swan series by +Victoria Danann . I call it an installment, not a book, because to me it feels more like each book is part of the whole and that when the final book of KBS is published you will have a whole, large novel. That is just my take on it - but that is how it feels.
Each book begins where the last left off and builds from it - which means we have all the same characters in the books, but sometimes we see more or less of them in a certain book, and sometimes new characters pop in and some books give us more about certain characters than others.
This book is big on Bakka! And I do mean big! Bakka is in Edinburgh trying to get his Vampire Intervention off the ground, but he has no staff, and he feels helpless, not to mention that his assistant, Heaven, acts like she hates him. So we learn a lot about Bakka. We go back and see his human life, his vampire life, his return to conscience, and his turning himself into the Black Swan, and then his years in the tower. By the end of this book - if you have not cried, screamed, hurt, and begged for some sort of forgiveness for Bakka, then you have a cold, dead heart!
At the same time, Ram and Elora are off in the New Forrest, getting there last few weeks in before Helm's arrival and while Ram is working on the new house, Elora is working on becoming friends with a pack of wolves. Just the sort of thing she would do.
We also in this book for the first time, take a journey back to Elora's home world and see what happened once she went through the vortex and some new mysteries and secrets are opened up to us at that point in time.
Alesong Hawking comes into this book a bit more this time. She is slowly working her way into more and more time in the books, which is nice because she is a wonderful character that I enjoy seeing and I am looking forward to her future.
The next installment - Moonlight, I also found on Amazon for free the other day - so up to now I have only have to buy this one book, which is nice for my budget, but I am so in love with these books that it wouldn't matter! I am hooked!! Mind, body and spirit!!

The Witch's Dream (Order of the Black Swan, Book Two)
by Victoria Danann
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
After getting book one, from free on Amazon, I found that if I signed up for the authors, +Victoria Danann newsletter I could get book two for free, and since I was already hooked after reading book one, I had to sign up and get book two!!
The Witch's Dream starts off within a few weeks of the end of book one. This is definitely a read in order series, in fact I would say it is more like each book is a part of a whole larger novel, so you can read the second set of chapters without reading the first. There is a review at the front, but that is just enough to refresh your memory between book publications really. Just my take on the series, as an avid reader.
Elora and Ram are at his brother's place to do what the elves call hand-fasting, which is their marriage ceremony. Everyone will be there, then they are all going to Edinburgh to work with Bakka for a bit on his new Vampire project.
This book gives you more details about Black Swan, because this time we are in Edinburgh, and so we learn more about this area of the world. We also get to learn a little more about Ram's family and we Kay's sister's. This book does focus more on Lithia and Storm, because they are off on one mission, and then Ram, Elora and Bakka are on another. We learn about Storm's requirement into Black Swan and his past, what Lithia knows of hers, and then later even more of her past. Again, there are many layers of story going on at the same time, yet they all weave together perfectly to create a perfect picture.
The whole scope of Black Swan is changing at this point because of Elora's arrival into this world, her unique blood and the perfection of the vampire cure. At the same time, the men of B-Company have been together for a long time, but they are finally finding the women that complete them and deciding that maybe the life of a Knight is done for them and it's time to retire. The question is can one ever really retire from something like the Black Swans?
This book is hard to review because anything I say can spoil book one for someone who has not read it, and yet if you are reading a review of book two, shouldn't I assume you have read book one? Not really, so I try to be vague, but vague just does not work in this book!!
Each book is dependent on the one before it - I said this before, I look at this series more like each book being a set of chapters in a large novel and when finished the complete series will make one large novel. If you look at it that way, then reading them in order and understanding that everything ties together is easier.
The thing is we have the same main characters in this book - B Company - Storm, Ram, Kay, Elora, of course Monq, the directors Sol and Simon, and Bakka. Now we add in some new characters in this book, learn more about each of the previous characters and the story grows. The situations are changing fast, things not thought possible are happening with lightening spend, and yet they are all still rolling with the punches and doing the best they can.
It's just a captivating story. You are pulled in to the point that you are laughing with one couple, crying with another, mad at one person, rooting for another, wanting to punch one and so on. They become part of your world and your life, you feel like you actually know these characters, and that is what a truly good book and a truly good author does. They make you part of the story.

So I was posting a review the other day and a recommendation link to another book came up on my page. It was for this book, My Familiar Stranger, and I was looking at it and thought it sounded pretty neat, then I noticed a post from the author that said the book was available for free on Amazon at the moment, and I thought, well that if the perfect reason to sample the book. OMG! I am so hooked on +Victoria Danann ! I even listed her next to Sherrilyn Kennyon (my absolute all-time, favorite author in the world)in my kindle!!
So the story starts in a lab, where a teacher/professor is throwing his best student through a spiralling vortex after her entire family has just been massacred. She is scared, frightened and in shock, and you are thinking, what is going on. The next thing you know we are someplace else completely, with a whole new set of characters and new storyline and in the back of your mind you know the girl is going to come into play at some point, but you are getting into these muscle-bound men in the new line, when POOF, she appears! Only she is in no condition to talk, the vortex was not kind to her or her body.
This book is an adventure in paranormal! We have other dimensions and worlds, then we have vampires, werewolves, elves, fae, witches and who knows what all else we will uncover as the books continue! Welcome to Black Swan. Black Swan is a covert organization formed hundreds of years ago to protect the human population from the paranormal in the world. At the time it was founded vampires were their main focus, but over time other paranormals were discovered and included. Black Swan recruited the "second sons", those sons that would not inherit in the patriarchal society, and that were "hard to handle". They were trained to deal with things most people never dream of encountering.
The Familiar Stranger gives you an overview into the history of Black Swan and how it began, not its not a stiff and boring lesson, it's told in a way that makes it interesting and exciting and you are engaged in the story and learning all you can about this secret society keeping the world safe. It really sets the stage for the whole series, introducing you to some main characters, giving you just enough information on them to get you interested in them and you are starting to become party of the story.
There are many layers of story going on in the book, all at the same time, and the author does a wonderful job of weaving them all together so that you can jump from one character to another and it's almost like real life in that you see this story evolving with this person in your life and a completely different thing happening at the same time with a different person in your life, but yet it is all going on at the same time. It was amazing!!

As you know, when I find an author that I really like, I tend to devour everything I can written by them, and then of course I have to pass it along to you all, my favorite readers.
My newest find.... +Victoria Danann Paranormal Romance Writer award winner three years in a row! And she has a huge library of books to read!!
As I always do at the end of this post, I have listed all the series I can find to date, and the books in those. As you know they change over time but I always try to update them when I find new information.
Also, her website says they "strongly recommend" you read the books in order, let me just say this, and this is from my reading, book two picks up right were book one left off and so on down the line, so each book is a continuation of the story, not really a book on it's on persay, but there is a short recap at the beginning of each book to refresh your memory if it's been awhile since you read the last book, but I would NOT recommend trying to read them out of order or skipping books. Read them more like sets of chapters to a complete novel.
At the moment - you can get Book One of the Black Swan series on Amazon for free, and if you sign up for her newsletter, she will send you a link to a copy of Book Two for free, so you really have NO reason not to start the series!! Especially if you have a Kindle and the KindleUnlimited....
Even if you don't, this is definitely a set that I want in my library. I can see myself reading it more than once. It will go on a shelf next to my Sherrilyn Kennyon books!!

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Victoria Danann, is the author of sixteen romances, paranormal and contemporary.
Her Knights of Black Swan series won BEST PARANORMAL ROMANCE SERIES THREE YEARS IN A ROW. 2013,2014,2015 - Reviewers Choice Awards, The Paranormal Romance Guild.
Victoria’s paranormal romances come with uniquely fresh perspectives on “imaginary” creatures, characters, and themes. She adds a dash of scifi, a flourish of fantasy, enough humor to make you laugh out loud, and enough steam to make you squirm in your chair. Her heroines are independent femmes with flaws and minds of their own whether they are aliens, witches, demonologists, psychics, past life therapists, or financial analysts from Dallas. Her heroes are hot and hunky, but they also have brains, character, and good manners – usually – whether they be elves, demons, berserkers, werewolves, or vampires.
The first book of the Knights of Black Swan Paranormal Romance Series, My Familiar Stranger, was nominated for Best Paranormal Romance of 2012 by both Reviewers’ Choice and Readers’ Choice Awards. All of her books have opened on the Amazon Best Sellers list and earned Night Owl Reviews TOP PICK awards. Many have appeared on Listopia BOOK OF THE MONTH as #1 across all genres.

Charles is a 700 plus year old vampire, or at least he was until last night, who has become just a little jaded to life on earth with humans. Petronella, or Ellie is a young witch who hasn't decided if this is a gift or a curse, she just wants to be normal. Lee is your typical teenage werewolf, trying to adjust to the monthly changes and not enjoying it, wanting to be normal. One night, quite by chance, all three would encounter each other and all their lives would become entangled. Charles would try to quench his thirst on Ellie, who would curse Charles turning him human, and Lee would see is all from a distance. No big deal right? Wrong. Now they find that they will each need each other to figure out this messed up thing called life as a teenage vampire, witch or werewolf. Unvamped is a catchy title for the story, partly of Charlie, who is no longer a vampire, but also of Ellie and Lee. Author Elizabeth Stevens takes normal human emotions of growing up and translates them to these paranormals and gives a divine story.
Although the title would make you think that Unvamped is mostly about Charlie, and while he is the main character, he has a lot to learn or relearn to shed his jaded ways. It is still just as much about Ellie, a powerful young witch with so much potential that she is a threat to some, and promise to others and she just wants to be a teenager. Lee is having trouble controlling his changes from boy to wolf, and this is causing problems, which only grow with the book. The funny thing is that Charlie is the one that seems to be the best equipped to help Lee out and deal with the issues. It's an uneasy alliance between these three in the beginning then becomes a friendship that changes so much about them all. Author Elizabeth Stevens gives the reader a wonderful story with so much to recommend it for any reader.
