Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Chamber of Secrets is the second book in the Harry Potter series, and it revolves around Harry's second year of schooling at Hogwarts.
The second year sees the last of the Weasley children, Ginny finally attending Hogwarts. We met her briefly in the first book, but this book introduces her into the story and starts the build of her character. It also sees the building of the budding friendship between the trio, Harry, Ron and Herminone. I always feel that the friendship between the three as moving too fast in the movies, but when you read the books, you see the slow building of the friendship, the tests, the trials and the miscues. It is just so much more realistic.
Second year sees harder classes, old professors and new, old friends and new friends and another attempt by Voldemort to come back and get rid of Harry for once and all, this time he again uses another to do his work.
So many have read the books or either seen the movies, so I don't want to say too much about the storyline, but for those of you who have only seen the movies, you really have to read the books. There is so much more depth and character development in the books that you come to feel as if you really know the people and they are parts of your world and not just book characters.
If you are young or old, and have never read the books, they are wonderful for anyone. There is always a resounding theme of good vs evil in the books, and I really feel that they encourage children and help them deal with different issues in life and grew into a good person.
The books are so well-written, with so much thought and development, they are great for kids and adults alike.
